Photographer / Nature Guide
We welcome you with Aloha on a visual road trip around the island to landmark sites and hidden gems off the typical tourist path. Along the way we might meet Kama the Surfing Pig, see a local blessing or a Hawaii Five-O filming.
As professional photographers, teachers and guides we know the ideal spots getting you there at the right time so you get the perfect shot. We are committed to you having a great time capturing stunning photos. Warmest Aloha
My lifelong passion for photography began after my dad gave me a camera for my 18th birthday and I’ve been capturing life through a lens ever since. As a still photographer and documentarian, I’m passionate about going beyond the snapshot to creating a photograph or video that tells a good story and evokes emotion, whether it’s a portrait, landscape or a short film. After traveling the world shooting commercially for non-profit organizations, federal and state agencies, and magazines my husband and I settled in Hawaii. I love turtles and sharks and volunteer with Malama Na Honu, a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect the Hawaiian green sea turtles through education, public awareness and conservation in the Spirit of Aloha. What I love most about leading tours is connecting with other photographers, teaching & learning.
People ask me about my photos. All the photos on this website I shot but check out a few not shown elsewhere below.
Photographer / Nature Guide
As a professional guide on O’ahu for several years, I have lead guided tours of the zipline through Kaaawa Valley, while providing detailed narrations of Hawaiian culture and history. I’m an avid outdoors enthusiast and enjoy sharing with our guests the unique native flora and fauna. I have camped, hiked, backpacked, rock-climbed and kayaked in many different climates around the world. Being outdoors and active with a camera by my side is my dream come true. My personal photography focuses on landscapes and night photography, but I’m proficient in all styles and a variety of techniques and cameras. My photography is inspired by what I see and because the light is always changing, you can go back to the same locations and each time there is a different scene that unfolds.
Check out some of my photos I’ve taken at one of our SUNSET LOCATIONS. Every day is different.
Born in Canada I hiked and explored the beautiful Niagara Escarpment at an early age. With a love for art I’ve worked as a commercial photographer, graphic designer and videographer.
When I live in Kansas I was addicted to chasing those midwestern storms with my camera. As soon as the emergency sirens blared I was off to capture the tornado in all of its powerful glory. Later when we move to O’ahu I found that same passion for the big waves on the North Shore. It’s an incredible experience to feel the pounding surf and watch each magnificent wave turn into different shapes and colors. The first time I saw a surfer ride this energy force I knew surfing was for me. Each winter when the surf rolls in I’m there shooting. When I’m not shooting surf I love photographing nature especially wildlife. I’m a volunteer with Malama Na Honu ( Care for the Turtle ).
Come and shoot some surf with me and check out my photos below.
For the past decade, I have focused on creating photography that helps protect our environment and threatened cultural resources, working closely with oceanographers, water scientists, archaeologists, and architectural historians on hundreds of assignments. In 2016, I was awarded the Preservation Design Award from the California Preservation Foundation for my documentary project, “Bridging Los Angeles”, a film about a historic collection of monument bridges that span the Los Angeles River. A major exhibition and book is in the works for this year.
Most recently I’ve been shooting aerial footage with a variety of drones for a documentary traveling to Bulgaria, Rome and India.
Having taught photography and post-production at the Los Angeles Center of Photography, leading photography tours allows me to assist people in exploring O’ahu and experimenting with texture and color in our breathtaking landscapes. Seeing the imagery from our guest photographers inspires me every day.
